We have two residential homes in Troy, Michigan. Herbmoor House is located at 6131 Herbmoor St, Troy, MI 48098. The Daley Home is located at 3178 Daley Dr, Troy, MI 48083, conveniently near the I-75 Rochester Rd exit. We serve families throughout Southeast Michigan.

Our homes are small, residential settings where each resident receives personal, one-on-one attention. Unlike large facilities where residents can feel lost in the crowd, our caregivers know each resident by name and treat them like family. We provide the day-to-day assisted living services most families are looking for in the comfort of a warm, home-like environment. We will not tell you we offer everything a larger facility does. A licensed residential home is not a nursing home and cannot provide skilled nursing care, and if that is what someone needs we will say so rather than take them on.

Residents enjoy a comfortable, home-like routine. We do not run fixed visiting hours, and we encourage family involvement rather than scheduling it. In practice families come and go through the day, and our homes have comfortable spaces to sit and spend real time together rather than perch at a bedside. The only things that shape a visit are the ordinary ones, a resident's own routine, meals, rest, and whether someone is unwell. Yes. Both Herbmoor House and the Daley Home are licensed adult foster care homes, regulated by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Michigan does not issue a license called assisted living: adult foster care is the legal category that small residential homes like ours fall under. People often assume the license type is decided by headcount, and it is not quite that simple, because the capacity ranges overlap. An adult foster care family home serves 3 to 6 adults and the licensee has to live in the house; a small group home serves 3 to 12 and the licensee does not. Ours are licensed as adult foster care small group homes.

We coordinate with hospice providers so that a resident who is declining can stay in the room they know, with the caregivers they know, rather than being moved again. Whether that is possible depends on the level of medical care a person comes to need, and we will always be straight with a family about it rather than let a situation drift.

Mostly the words. Assisted living is a marketing term that any size of community can use. Adult foster care is the Michigan licensing category, and it is what a small residential home is actually licensed as. A hundred-bed community and a house with a handful of residents can both advertise assisted living, so the license, and the number of people one caregiver is responsible for, tell you far more about a place than the phrase on the sign does.
